Sunderland Cherokees were convincing 8-1 winners at Blackburn Sparrowhawks in the English U12 North A League.
Cherokees began the scoring after two minutes through Ashleigh Holland and a brace from Callum Davies gave Sunderland a 3-0 lead at 08.25.
By the end of the first period Emma Hall, Alex Lawson and Holland had extended Cherokees' lead to 6-0. Jack Watkins put his name on the scoresheet when he drove home the seventh goal in the 26th minute.
A minute later Blackburn netted their consolation goal. The eighth and final Sunderland goal came with only three seconds remaining when short-handed. Davies was on hand to complete his hat-trick. The same two teams meet at the Telewest Arena on Sunday, January 4.

Sunderland Mohicans went down 8-2 to Solihull Sabres in the English U14 North B League. Sabres, lying second in the table, had a good first period which saw them go into a 5-0 lead. Solihull opened their account in the first minute, two more by the tenth minute and a further brace coming at 13.26 and 14.36.
A sixth for the home side was scored before Daniel Coffey put Mohicans on the scoresheet. Callum Davies on the powerplay at 40.43 completed the scoring.

Whitley Arrows made the long journey to Telford Venom on Saturday in the English U12 North A League. Telford took the lead in the third minute and three powerplay goals extended the lead to 4-0 at 16.30.
Joe Zajac opened Whitley's account on the powerplay at 21.22 and Liam Brown struck a second three minutes later. Telford led 8-2 after two periods and four without reply in the third to round off the scoring.

Whitley Braves suffered a 17-1 loss at Telford Trojans in the English U19 North A League.
English National Hockey League North
Whitley Warriors gave Alan Yarrow a debut after resigning at the weekend. He last played for Sunderland Chiefs five seasons ago for a few games. Warriors were up against Blackburn Hawks in a league match hoping for a win. In two previous encounters at Blackburn this season Hawks won on each occasion.
Hawks went ahead at 13.31 on the powerplay to end the first period. Baxter, Daniel Good and Paul Graham struck for Whitley in the middle period.
Baxter's hat-trick marker and Graham's second came in the final period as Warriors won 6-1.

Warriors are on the road tomorrow with a trip to Kingston Jets. Flintshire Freeze with only one league defeat visit Billingham Bombers on Sunday.
