Hunwick A recovered from a 44 points deficit going into the final frame to pull off a giant-killing act when they beat the visiting First Division team, Old Shildon.
Third Division, Hunwick received 48 points start but this was changed to a five points advantage to the visitors after Martin Taylor and Malcolm Parsley won the first two frames. Ian Richardson pulled Hunwick back to a lead of fourteen but then Paul Armstrong hit top form to move Shildon into their 44 points lead. However Peter Mernor pulled off the almost impossible when he sunk the final pink to take the match by eight points.
