A SMALL community has been given a Wurlitzer organ - and has now launched a hunt for someone to play it.
The instrument has been installed in a new common room at the Sir William Turner's Almshouses at Kirkleatham.
Peter Sotheran, chairman of the board of trustees of the almshouses said: "We would very much like to hear from anyone who would be willing to lead a regular sing-along session, perhaps once a month. There may be a retired musician who enjoys playing for his or her own pleasure and would be willing to share the enjoyment with us."
The Wurlitzer was presented to the almshouses by retired ICI worker Stan Nelson.
He said: "I enjoyed playing it for a number of years and I am pleased that it will provide enjoyment to a new group of people."
Musical evenings for the 30 residents at the almshouses used to be a regular feature.
Musicians or small groups and choirs who are willing to entertain the residents can contact either Mrs Simpson, the warden, or Mr Sotheran on (01642) 482828.
