A NEWTON Aycliffe community centre has begun to hold citizens advice sessions on one morning a week.
The drop-in sessions, at the Neighbourhood Management Centre, in Silverdale Place, are held every Wednesday from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
Myra McMenamin, the appointed advisor, will be available to ensure people are aware of their rights.
Residents can ask for advice on the benefits system, housing issues, employment issues, money matters or family matters, including bereavement, separation, divorce or domestic violence.
Advice is also available on writing letters, filling in forms and making telephone calls.
No appointment is necessary. The service is free and all inquiries will be treated in the strictest confidence.
The sessions are being funded by SureStart.
