AN open evening for people wanting to find out more about fostering, is taking place on Thursday.
The success of the Foster Care Worker Scheme, started by Sunderland Social Services, has attracted national interest since it began in 1999.
It provides financial support for foster carers and on-going training. As well as offering guidance and advice on childcare, foster carers are offered £15,800 to £16,900 a year, plus an allowance for each child.
More details are available at the open evening at Leechmere Training Centre, Carrmere Road on the Leechmere Industrial Estate, Grangetown, near Sunderland at 6.30pm or from the Fostering Team by calling 0191-382 3108.
