STAFF at an animal sanctuary have made a desperate appeal to find a home for a dog who was first looked after by them in 1991.
Cross-breed, Penny was adopted from the Jerry Green Foundation Trust's Northern Animal Sanctuary in Catton, near Thirsk, 13 years ago. She was left with them again three weeks ago when her elderly owner had to go into hospital.
Penny is 15 and slightly deaf. She also takes tablets for a heart murmur, but this does not affect her energy levels. Sanctuary manager, Chris Milnes said: "She is actually very fit and active and can jump on to chairs and settees. She loves going for walks.
"The problem is with a dog of 15, she is going to be very hard to re-home."
To offer Penny a home, call (01845) 567456.
