A JOGGER who was seen running along a former railway track could be a key witness for police investigating a robbery.
Two masked men brandishing sticks left a shop assistant terrified after they robbed the post office at the Charltons, near Guisborough, east Cleveland, on Monday.
They got away with a substantial amount of money after they threatened the female assistant, who was left shocked, but unhurt.
It is believed the two men and an accomplice who was in a car used the former railway line between Rievaulx Way and Enfield Chase, in Guisborough, to escape.
Detectives know a jogger was on the track at about noon on Monday and want to speak to him or her.
Officers also want to talk to anyone who may have seen a red Ford car that was parked near the Charltons' post office, in Front Street, with its engine running at about 11.30am on Monday.
Three men aged 23, 24 and 25, are helping police with inquiries.
Anyone who can help is asked to call Detective Sergeant Tom Drysdale on (01642) 301933.
