RAIL services on Britain's fastest line are getting back to normal after a power scare.
Network Rail cut power to a stretch of the East Coast Main Line near Ferryhill this morning for safety work.
GNER services were delayed as the electric-powered trains had to switch to diesel power along the stretch of track. Speed restrictions were also in place.
Network Rail - the company responsible for the rail infrastructure - said power had been restored by 11.38am.
However she added: "Passengers will continue to experience delays for some hours as the GNER timetable gets back to normal."
