A TEESDALE woman who celebrates her 100th birthday tomorrow says she has no secret for her longevity.
Mary Walker, of South Side, near Butterknowle, plans to spend her day with family and friends and insists she does not want any fuss made.
Mrs Walker, known as Mollie to her friends, was born in 1904 a few miles from the Royal Hotel, Woodland, where her parents, Mary and Isaac Dewhurst, were landlords.
She moved to Southside when she married her late husband, Elijah.
The couple lived on a nearby farm before retiring to the family home at South Side.
Mr and Mrs Walker had four children: Albert, the late Mary, Joan and Kenneth.
"There was no electricity when we first came here and that was one of the biggest changes," said Mrs Walker.
"I liked it when we lived on the farm, although I was scared of cows when we first moved there."
