A SCHOOL has been placed in the top 25 per cent in the country by Ofsted inspectors.
Bedale High School was inspected in November and was classed as a good school with many very good features.
The lead inspector said it was ready to become a leading edge school.
The report praised the mature behaviour of pupils, strong leadership and the high standard of achievement among students.
Headteacher Graham Turner said: "We are extremely pleased by the report, and there are many very positive judgements made about the quality of teaching and learning in the school.
"What we are particularly pleased about is the way in which the report reflects both the academic and pastoral aspects of provision at the school.
"In short, a student at Bedale High School can expect an excellent education, and a degree of pastoral support that is rarely found in many high schools."
