POLICE have described a late night attack on a convenience store as nasty and vicious and renewed their appeal for witnesses.
Staff at the Bells store in Larkswood Road, in Redcar, were left traumatised after two men, one armed with a hammer and the other with an axe, threatened them at 10.30pm on Tuesday.
The pair escaped in a Ford Orion Car Registration K979 HHJ with a small amount of cash.
The car was later found abandoned in Foxrush Close in Redcar.
Police are anxious to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or who has knowledge of the car.
They are asked to ring Detective Sergeant Nick Owen on (01642) 302626.
