TWO Bedale High School pupils have received their Yorkshire caps for cricket.
Year nine pupil Bradley Elsworth, who represents the school, Hambleton and Richmondshire area, North Yorkshire, Bedale Juniors and Bedale second XI, played twice for Yorkshire under-15s during the summer, batting at number five. His highest score was 15 not out. Bradley also plays football for the area and is a talented all-rounder.
Year 11 student Emma Shillito has already made history at Bedale High School by becoming the first girl ever to win the Adrian Grayson cup for the outstanding cricketer.
Emma plays her cricket for Bedale Juniors, Burton Leonard Ladies and Knaresborough under-15s as well as Yorkshire under-15 and under-17 ladies. She represented Yorkshire ten times last season and had a highest score of 50 against Derbyshire.
As well as playing cricket, Emma scores for Bedale cricket team, plays in goal for the school's girls' football team and represented North Yorkshire in the national athletics championships at Sheffield last summer, when she finished 11th in the javelin.
Both pupils were presented with their caps at a ceremony in school.
