THE driver of a car that ploughed into a family-of-five will appear in court this morning charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
Paul Lee has been charged with causing the death of eight-month-old Callum Taylor, who died three days after the pushchair carrying him was hit by a car in West Cornforth, County Durham.
The baby suffered serious head injuries when the Volkswagen Passat hit his tandem buggy while his parents were enjoying an afternoon walk with their three children on Saturday, December 27.
He died from his injuries the following Tuesday at Newcastle General Hospital.
Mr Lee, 25, of Baltic Road, Gateshead, has already appeared before magistrates charged with driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and failing to report an accident.
The new charge was made yesterday following a meeting between Durham Police and the Crown Prosecution Service. He will appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court this morning.
