New County North Durham Youth League: Leaders Cleveland Hall suffered a 9-1 defeat to third top Leam Rangers when the sides met in the Under-16 division.
Lee Turnbull (3) John Sherlock (2) and Ryan Moore (2) were the principal scorers for Leam Rangers who now trail Cleveland Hall and Blaydon by just a single point.
Blaydon moved level on points with Cleveland Hall when they defeated Redheugh 5-3. Carl Bichea struck a hat trick for Blaydon who have three games in hand on Cleveland Hall.
South Moor were easy winners on their visit to Birtley. Andrew Gains bagged a brace of goals in a 5-0 success.
In the Under-17 section, Cleveland Hall move level on points with Redheugh following their victory at home to Consett. Liam Docherty, with a brace, Anthony Falcon and Chris Morris were the scorers in a 4-0 victory. Although they had the number of points as Redheugh, their rivals have played three games fewer and still boast a 100 per cent record after ten fixtures.
Cowgate produced the highest score of the day when they put six goals past Red House. Paul Hawthorn was the home team's only marksman while for Cowgate, Joe Scope, Chris Fee and John Redhead all scored twice.
Winlaton went nap in their home game with Beamish ending 5-1 winners. Jimmy Johnson hit a hat trick and Mark Waugh and Owen Fox also penetrated the defences of Beamish for whom Chris Griffiths scored his side's only goal.
Fairs Software Tyneside Junior League
Following a break for Christmas and New Year only one game went ahead when the programme resumed at the weekend. Walker Central hosted West Denton and ran out 2-0 winners with goals by Ian Graham and Andrew Weeks.
The result leaves Chester-le-Street one point clear of New Hartley at the top of the table and Cestrians have three games in hand on their new challengers.
Seaham Red Star are third just two points behind Chester-le-Street having fulfilled the same number of fixtures.
Willington
Second-half goals by Harry Drummond and Nicholas Elliott gave Willington Under-15 Boys a 2-0 victory at home to Lambton Street in the Premier Division of the Russell Foster Junior League.
Playing in difficult, muddy conditions, Willington set the pace in the second period to gain a deserved win. Joe Fairish was Willington's man-of-the-match.
Goalkeeper Dean Wilson gained the man-of-the-match accolade for his courageous display in their 6-1 defeat at home to a very strong Stannington side. Alex Hird was the Willington marksman and Mathew Cooper and Jonathan Grainger were also praised by manager Alan Roberts for their non-stop efforts.
Apollo Doors Gateshead Youth League
Following the break for the festive season the league started the New Year and although the weather intervened in some matches, most games in the Under-11 division went ahead.
Leam Rangers Y produced the highest score of the day when they put nine goals past Redheugh who managed just three in reply.
Jack Harmison rifled four goals for Rangers and Josh Allen bagged a brace for the winners.
Ryton hammered Consett B 7-0 and Winlaton ended 6-3 winners over Consett R. Daniel Curry hit four of Winlaton's goals.
Whickham Fellside G ran out 5-1 victors over Blaydon and Leam Rangers G also scored five goals at Whickham Fellside Y. Chris Hughes rifled a hat-trick for Rangers.
Another player to score three times was Michael Croogan in Swalwell 6-3 victory at home to Felling.
In the Under-12 section Andrew Chaters struck four times as Felling defeated Ryton 7-1, while goals from Gordon Hutchinson (3) and Ross Heslop (2) assisted Redheugh to a 6-1 success at Prudhoe Town.
The result between Leam Rangers and Winlaton was close and it was Winlaton who edged a 3-2 success but at Cleveland Hall, Blaydon crashed to a 9-2 defeat. Michael Tucker and Jason French both hit a hat-trick for the Hall.
At Under-13 level Whickham Fellside B and Leam Rangers Y fought out a 2-2 draw while Redheugh just took the points from Blaydon by the odd goal in five. Chris Smith bagged a brace of goals for the Reds.
Leam Rangers G hit Consett 5-1 as did Chopwell at home to Low Fell. Lee Best scored twice for Chopwell.
Washington hammered Winlaton 9-1 when James Murray, Nicky Jose and Liam Hodgson all found the net on two occasions. Whickham Fellside R ran out 2-0 victors at Cleveland Hall and Swalwell and Rutherford shared in an 8-8 thriller which finished 4-4. James Ridley notched a couple of goals for Swalwell.
Only two games were played in the Under-14 division and there were wins for Winlaton and Blaydon, but in contrasting styles.
Winlaton had to work hard for a 2-1 victory at Low Fell C but Blaydon hammered Leam Rangers 8-2. Michael Curry scored both goals for Rangers and for Blaydon Viv Graham and Michael Henderson bagged a brace of goals.
Only one match was completed at Under-15 level and Beamish won a ten goals thriller 6-4 at Cleveland Hall. Gary Archibald netted twice for the Hall while Craig Paley scored four times for Beamish.
In the Durham County Under-14 Cup Cleveland Hall went out 4-2 at Durham City, but Redheugh will fly the flag for the league in the next round following their 4-0 victory at home to Hartlepool Crest Boys.
