Division One, BEADS 5, Stokesley SC 3: BEADS took a 2-0 lead into the half-time break when Ian Swinnerton crossed for Steven Boyle to head home the opener against visitors Stokesley after five minutes.
Thirteen minutes later Boyle scored his second of the game with a 25 yard shot, they had a number of great chances to increase their lead but could not convert any of the chances. In the second half the visitors fought back and Steven Pennock pulled one back in the 53rd minute, five minutes later BEADS took a 3-1 lead when George Pain was fouled in the box and Swinnerton scored from the spot, a minute later James Allsopp scored for the visitors to pull it back to 3-2, but a minute later BEADS regained their two goal advantage when a Stokesley player handled on the line and Swinnerton with his second penalty scored his sixth of the season. But a minute later Sam Vernalls pulled it back to 4-3 before Gary Thompson headed home a Swinnerton cross to make it 5-3. But in the last ten minutes Stokesley pushed forward again and the home side were indebted to their new keeper Chris Mason who pulled off two good saves to help his team secure a 5-3 victory.
Grangetown BC 1, Mackinlay Park 3
League Champions Grangetown Boys Club looked to have lost the chance of retaining their title after this set back against Redcar side Mackinlay Park who are fighting for their existence in the First Division. The visitors shocked the Champions when they took a tenth minute lead through Paul Jewitt. Alan Shepherd pulled it back to 1-1 in the 31st minute when he headed home from a corner, but Jewitt then scored his second of the match and sixth of the season seven minutes later to send the Redcar side 2-1 ahead at half time. In the second half the Boys Club came out all guns blazing but they had a goal disallowed for a dubious offside decision, Mark Ward then had a great chance to pull the ball back for Michael Meggison, but went for goal and had his effort saved by the Mackinlay Park keeper. And then in the last ten minutes Ray Teasdale pounced on a ball over the top to run on and score to make it 3-1.
Nunthorpe Ath 3, Carlin How 6
Nunthorpe Athletic got of to a great start against second placed Carlin How and took the lead in the 15th minute when Scott Robson scored direct from a corner. They doubled their lead in the 26th minute from another dead ball situation when Simon O'Shea score with a free kick on the edge of the Carlin How penalty box. A minute later a hotly disputed penalty was put away by Graham Solomon to pull it back to 2-1, a minute later another penalty was awarded when the offence seemed to be outside the box. Solomon scored again from the spot to pull it back to 2-2. Carlin How then took a 3-2 lead a minute before half time when Steve Starsmore scored. In the second half Nunthorpe were reduced to ten men when Adam Noble was sent off after receiving a second caution, but ten minutes into the second half Nunthorpe drew level when a John O'Shea shot was adjudged to have crossed the lane when his shot hit the underside of the bar before being cleared, but an assistant referees flag ruled the ball had crossed the line. But Carlin How then made their extra man count when Starsmore made it 4-3 in the 64th minute, he then grabbed his hat trick goal in the 71st minute to take his tally to 17 for the season, before centre back Solomon secured his hat trick in the 77th minute to secure all three points.
Thornaby FC 2, SMG Redstripes 1
Thornaby keep their lead at the top of the First Division but had to come from behind, they had a couple of good chances through Neil Preston and Michael Arif, but Billingham visitors SMG Redstripes fought back into the game and took the lead five minutes before half time when Tony Insall scored from a hotly disputed free kick, with the home side appealing in vain for offside. Just before half time a cheeky back heel from Preston gave Arif the room to knock home his 21st goal of the season to make it 1-1 at half-time. In the second half Thornaby got on top and Arif was unlucky with a 25 yard chip that came back off the bar, but Preston could not convert the rebound. But in the 65th minute Preston made amends when he laid the ball back for Martin Speight who drove home an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box to secure three important points.
Wolviston Res 2, Fishburn Park 1
Wolviston Reserves moved up into seventh place when they entertained Whitby side Fishburn Park, they could have taken the lead after only 30 seconds when man of the match Michael Hardy put through Craig Leslie, but Leslie shot into the side netting. Wolviston again could have taken the lead in the 20th minute when Glen Walker broke clear but Carl Scales in the Fishburn goal pulled off a good save to keep the score line at 0-0. Scales was again brought into action a few minutes later when he saved from Darren Beattie. The home side finally broke through in the 29th minute when a Walker free kick came back of the cross bar and was bundled home by a first of the season from Chris Homer. The home side again created a number of good chances but Scales was again the saviour for the Whitby side. In the second half the visitors started to get back into the match and Duncan Marson had a good chance well saved by Wolviston keeper David Cochrane, and he was again brought into action by Michael Young, it was therefore no surprise when in the 70th minute Fishburn drew level when Danny Brown scored with a shot that went in off the post to make it 1-1. In the 78th minute a good run by Andy Smith saw his shot go through a rack of players and find the back of the net to secure all three points for Wolviston.
R T Raine Trophy preliminary round
North Ormesby 6, Whinney Banks 1
The third meeting of these two Second Division teams in this preliminary round of the R T Raine Trophy, a home meeting against Dormans the reward for the winners, in their two previous meeting they had both secured an away win each. North Ormesby took the lead after 20 minutes when Carl Brown scored from the penalty spot after Chris Renshaw had handled on the line, he was sent off and North Ormesby took the lead. A minute later North Ormesby took a 2-0 lead when Richard O'Connor rounded the keeper and slid the ball home, it was 3-0 a further minute later when Richard Mills scored. Whinney Banks fought back and pulled a goal back through John Blamires in the 40th minute, but right on the stroke of half time Philip Cox made it 4-1 to North Ormesby. In the second half the visitors pushed forward looking for a way to get back in the game, but North Ormesby got back on top and Mills, with his second of the match and fourth of the season, unleashed a thunderous left foot volley into the back of the net in the 72nd minute. On the stroke of the full time whistle David Howe who was making his debut scored to round of the scoring at 6-1.
Burness Plate
Guisb Town Res 3, Teesside Ath 4
Guisborough Town Reserves entertained Redcar side Teesside Athletic in a Group two Burness Plate match, all 12 second division teams were drawn into three groups of four and will be played home and away on a league basis, the winners of each group will be joined in the semi-finals with the best placed runner-up. In an entertaining game the home side took a 15th minute lead through Andy Davies, but Teesside Athletic drew level seven minutes later through Chris Ellis for a 1-1 half time score. In the second half Mark Farrell gave Teesside Athletic a 2-1 lead in the 52nd minute, but substitute Jon Bell levelled it at 2-2 in the 63rd minute, the visitors then took the lead again through Kirk Forsyth in the 80th minute, but Davies levelled the score at 3-3 four minutes later before Teesside Athletic grabbed all three points through substitute Andrew Tunnacliffe in the last minute.
