Something had to go in the Third Division's clash of the Titans when Burgoynes travelled to the Ball Alley.
Freemasons were the unbeaten leaders while Ball Alley knew if they maintained their 100 per cent - the top spot would be theirs for the taking.
And it turned out to be a close affair that eventually went the way of Burgoynes who snatched a thrilling odd goal in five success.
Lee Laidler, Graham Drinkall and Michael Nicholson were the Burgoynes match winners with Michael Proctor and Martin Pritchard efforts all in vain.
John Short netted five times in a 14-0 Delves win at the Duke of Wellington while Chris Dawson and Michael Oggle doubles steered Freemasons to a 6-3 win over Hat & Feather.
There were doubles for Shaun Campbell and Andrew Ferguson as the Smelters saw off Cronniwell 6-2.
In their Division One derby encounter, Derek Waters and Graham Clarke both scored twice in a 6-3 Blackhall Mill win over Chopwell.
