The achievement of Durham City's Anna Richardson in gaining international honours playing for the Great Britain Water Polo Youth Girls Team in Holland has been marked by the Northumberland and Durham ASA at the Association's Annual Dinner.
Anna also picked up a silver medal as a member of the North-East Counties Junior Girls team which finished runners-up to the Northern Counties in the ASA Inter District Water Polo championships.
Durham's Oliver Metcalf played for the NEC Junior Boys team which also ended runners-up to the Northern Counties.
Club mates Hamish Crichton, Steven Marshall and Ben Gourlay were selected for the NEC 91 Mixed team although Ben could not play because of injury. Hamish and Steven were in the NEC A team which reached the final of the ASA Inter District Championships also to lose narrowly to the South in the dying seconds.
Sophie Hole and Richard Burns were team manager and team coach for the NEC team.
David Mell recently refereed at a BUSA Water Polo tournament in Newcastle. Durham City have joined with Catterick and Sunderland to form an 88 Girls team to compete in the ASA Club Championships. They will play under the name of Catterick Cobras.
