A GLOBAL search to find a glass artist to contribute a work of art to a music centre in Gateshead has ended.
Architectural glass artist Kate Maestri, based at the Oxo Tower in London, has been chosen by Gateshead Council to design a glass balustrade, which will be included in the construction of the Sage centre.
Ms Maestri, whose family comes from the North-East, will also deliver a supporting education programme in Gateshead.
Ms Maestri said: "The design of the balustrade will draw on my response to the spectacular new building, its dramatic site on the banks of the River Tyne and the music for which it was created, and is inspired by the curves of the innovative roof and the immediate environment."
