A PUB landlady is aiming to raise £10,000 for charity with six months of fundraising.
Irene Boyers, who is the landlady of the Market Tavern and Black Horse pubs in Chester-le-Street, has raised thousands for charities in the past and has recently embarked on her latest fundraising drive.
This year she is collecting money for the Paul O'Gorman Leukaemia Foundation, for children with the disease.
She has a number of events lined up at the two pubs, from raffles to domino competitions.
The fundraising effort will be completed with a sponsored coast-to-coast bike ride by pub staff in July.
Mrs Boyers raised £2,000 during last month by holding raffles, a sponsored leg wax and a darts contest.
She said: "I've been fundraising like this for years and years. In 1993 we raised £10,000 and would like to do that again.
"Everyone gets involved. Some customers bring prizes to raffle. One lady who lost her little girl to leukaemia brought in some white polar bear teddies recently, and another has just offered to do a sponsored slim."
Anyone wanting to help with the fundraising or to take part in the coast-to-coast cycle ride can contact Ms Boyers on 0191-387 3868.
