LIGHT is to be used as an art form in a new exhibition.
Works of art that use light as a key element in their design will be on display at Hartlepool Art Gallery from Saturday.
Leading Dutch artist Judi Gor uses lasers with photographs, slides and moving images in her art work.
Some of the designs on display were created with residents of Hartlepool's Headland area.
They were made as part of a project to explore how light art could enhance the seafront area, although none has been used yet.
Claire Munroe, of Hartlepool Council's Arts and Museums Service, said: "We take light so much for granted but this display reveals how it can transform and enrich our environment."
Ms Gor was first commissioned to design a series of laser sculptures for the University of Amsterdam in the early 1980s.
She founded the Light Foundation in 1987, which promotes the integration of light in architecture.
The exhibition runs from today until Sunday, February 22. Admission is free.
The Art Gallery, in Church Square, Hartlepool, is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10am to 5.30pm, and Sundays from 2pm to 5pm. Call (01429) 869706 for details.
