IT is hoped work will begin shortly on a series of road safety improvements in Seaton Carew.
Members of Hartlepool Borough Council's regeneration and economy portfolio are being asked to approve the scheme, which includes plans for a pedestrian refuge on Coronation Drive and a zebra crossing on The Front opposite The Green.
It also includes plans for a cycle path on Station Lane and kerb build-outs, which move the give way line further forward, at the junctions of Lawson Road and Coronation Drive and Queen Street and The Cliff to improve pedestrian crossing, restrict parking and improve the visibility of approaching traffic.
If approval is given construction could start soon with the scheme expected to be complete before the end of March.
It is proposed to utilise £45,000 from the Local Transport Plan Programme and match fund it with £50,000 which has been granted from One NorthEast.
Councillors meet today to discuss the plans.
