A NORTH-EAST teacher has received an award for using computers to help her teach.
Lesley Marwood won the New to Teaching category of this year's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Practice Awards.
The modern languages teacher at Hartlepool's English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College received the prize from Schools Minister Stephen Twigg.
A judge for the awards, organised by the British Educational Communications and Technology group, said she was a strong candidate.
He said: "Lesley is very passionate about using ICT in her subject, which comes very clearly when observing her classes. She engages her pupils fully and enthuses her colleagues to use ICT in their subject teaching."
Ms Marwood said: "Information technology has revolutionised the way I teach and the way my pupils learn."
She will receive £2,500, with £2,500 for her school.
