Bishop Auckland defender Steven West cancelled out his own goal on Saturday - three months after the event.
West put through his own net for the only goal of the game on the last occasion when Bishops met promotion-chasing Matlock in a UniBond League game back in October, and on Saturday he made up for it by scoring the winner in Derbyshire.
Bishops boss Brian Honour said: "I suppose in a way it's a unique double. Players have scored at both ends in the same game before, but maybe not three months apart.
"We're delighted with the three points. I thought that our defence was fantastic, and overall it was a very good team performance against a top-of-the-table side. "
West scored with a header from a Stuart Irvine corner after 28 minutes, and Chris Moore nearly added a second after half time, but his shot hit the post. Matlock had Phil Brown dismissed for dissent late on.
Spennymoor had a disastrous 5-1 home defeat by Harrogate Town in the Premier Division, to leave them seven off the bottom.
Manager Tony Lee was furious with his defence, and stormed: "Some of the goals we gave away were through schoolboy errors."
Moors went behind after five minutes when a shot by former Darlington player Glenn Naylor was parried by Martin Kearney for Colin Hunter to score.
Andrew Brown nearly levelled for Moors, but Harrogate went 2-0 up when Hunter raced through and beat Kearney.
Harrogate went three up just before half time to a soft penalty, when Danny Brunskill appeared to win the ball cleanly, but the referee awarded a penalty which James Turley scored.
Moors midfielder Neal Bishop was red-carded for swearing, and in the second half Naylor added another from a corner. Stuart Brightwell pulled a goal back from 20 yards, but Hunter dribbled through for the fifth.
Whitby drew 1-1 at Vauxhall Motors having led through Anthony Ormerod, while in the First Division Gateshead's slide down the table continued when they lost 3-0 at Stocksbridge.
Blyth reached the fourth round of the FA Trophy with a 1-0 home win over Barrow, Scott Maxfield scoring an own goal.
