FEMALE entrepreneurs in the North-East are leading the country in setting up businesses.
A survey found the ratio of business start-ups by women compared to men was highest in the North-East.
The report, carried out by the London Business School and the Work Foundation, found businesswomen are more likely to be innovative with ideas and technology.
The findings were backed by Women Into The Network, part of Durham University Business School, which said it had recruited 1,500 members in the past five years.
The Federation of Small Businesses has also seen an increase in female North-East members.
