THE Prime Minister's former press secretary, Alistair Campbell, is to appear at a North-East theatre.

Mr Campbell will appear at the Customs House, in South Shields, South Tyneside, on Friday, January 30, in his first public engagement since his high-profile departure from Whitehall.

One of the UK's most famous Press secretaries, Mr Campbell will entertain audiences with stories and anecdotes from his career as Tony Blair's official spokesman.

People will also have the chance to put questions to him.

Tickets are £14, and £12 for concessions, available on 0191- 454 1234. The event begins at 7.30pm.

Customs House director Ray Spencer said: "This is another massive coup for the Customs House. We are delighted to be first, yet again, to bring nationally renowned personalities to South Tyneside."
