A NEW music centre being developed in Darlington is to sponsor Revolution's spring Platform concert.

The Forum music centre, in Borough Road, will sponsor the gig in March.

Revolution, The Northern Echo's music website, held the first Platform gig in November.

Platform will be held each quarter and will promote talent from across the region. Each will feature a different genre of music.

The Forum is being developed by a consortium of local businesses. The facility is in a converted Victorian school in Borough Road and will have three digital recording studios, five rehearsal rooms, a graphics suite, a 170-capacity auditorium, and a bar and a cafe.

Co-investor Dave Cox said: "We are excited about The Forum, and part of our mandate will be to help support and sponsor initiatives and gigs.

"Revolution's Platform gig is an excellent opportunity for us to help promote acts and bands around the region and we are really happy to be able to be involved."

Details of the spring gig will be announced soon.

The gig is being co-sponsored by streetwear store Fourth Chamber, in Post House Wynd, Darlington. Log on to www.thisisrevolution.co.uk for updates on Platform, and other music news.
