A SERVICE company has recorded a world-class safety performance in the past year.
SembCorp Utilities, based at Wilton, Redcar, has lost no production time due to injuries to any of its employees or contractors in more than 1.7 million man-hours of work.
The company, which supplies power and steam to the Wilton International industrial complex, has almost 600 employees and employs a number of contractors during the year.
Paul Gavens, SembCorp Utilities Teesside managing director, said: "Safety is our absolute top priority as a business and this is a world-class performance by any measure.
"We are not complacent and we recognise that with a busy year ahead, it will take a lot of effort to maintain this high level of performance, but that is what we intend to aim for."
The last injury reportable to the Health and Safety Executive occurred almost 18 months ago, when the business was known as Etol.
The Wilton International site was recently awarded the British Safety Council's highest award - a five star Health and Safety Award for workplace safety.
