YOUNG and old are gearing up for a sponsored silence in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief.
The Big Hush takes place on Friday, February 13. Last year, the event raised nearly £300,000 for the charity.
In Northallerton, Macmillan is raising money to fund a Macmillan dietician and physiotherapist.
These posts will provide expert treatment and advice for patients going through difficult periods.
Macmillan's fundraising manager for County Durham, Teesside and part of North Yorkshire is Wilma Burniston.
She said: "The sponsored silence was originally aimed at schools and children's groups but last year we had a number of companies take part. This usually involved sponsoring a noisy workmate to keep mum for a while and if they failed they had to pay a forfeit."
Anyone who would like to know more about this appeal or take part in the Big Hush, can call Ms Burniston on (01325) 370870 or log on to www.macmillan. org.uk/bighush.
