AN appeal is being made to recruit residents to join health watchdogs.
More than 40 people have successfully applied to join one of the independent Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Forums being set up in the area, to monitor health services.
A PPI spokeswoman said: "Local people are best-placed to use their experience and knowledge of health services to share any concerns they may have. By joining a forum, these concerns and any others, can be voiced and improvements made.
"This is a unique opportunity for Teessiders to shape the decisions which impact upon their health.''
A PPI forum is being set up for each NHS trust and Primary Care Trust.
People interested in becoming members can call Age Concern Teesside -the support organisation for the forums in the Middlesbrough area - on (01642) 828085, or call 0845 120 7115 for an application pack.
