VOLUNTEERS are needed to help a service offering confidential support to victims, witnesses and their families when attending court.
The Witness Service operates in all magistrates' courts in County Durham and Durham Crown Court.
A spokesman for the service said: "In order to maintain this valued service we urgently need volunteers.
"We are currently looking for people who are non-judgemental, have good communication skills, can ensure confidentiality and demonstrate empathy and diplomacy."
Training will commence on Wednesday, January 28.
Volunteers will be reimbursed for any out-of-pocket expenses, including travelling.
