HEALTH bosses received an award for commitment to equal opportunities for people with disabilities.
The Primary Care Trusts of Derwentside, Durham and Chester-le-Street and Easington have won Two Tick Positive About Disabled People awards from Jobcentre Plus.
To win the accolade, employers have to show a commitment to the recruitment, employment, retention and career development of disabled people. It is also a sign to jobseekers with disabilities that their job applications will be welcomed by the care trusts and that they will be treated fairly and equally.
Helen Tucker, director of operational services, clinical governance and head nurse for Derwentside PCT, said: "We are fully supportive of the recruitment, retention and development of disabled people. I was delighted to receive the award for the PCT."
