A FAMILY has been reunited with its pet dog, thanks to an appeal in The Northern Echo.
Oscar, a ten-month-old Jack Russell dog, went missing from Selgarth Farm, Middleton Tyas, near Richmond, North Yorkshire, more than a week ago.
The distraught White family feared their pet may have been stolen and, in a last ditch bid to find it, placed an appeal in The Northern Echo.
The next day, a reader contacted the family to say a dog matching Oscar's description had been found and was being cared for in a shelter near Thirsk.
After verifying that it was the correct dog, Oscar was reunited.
Gillian White said: "It was a miracle we found him really, and I don't think we would have if we hadn't put it in the paper.
"It's fantastic to have him back, we're absolutely over the moon. I was in such a desperate state and we're all just so pleased."
