A Cathedral will provide the setting for a musical masterpiece at the end of this month.
Durham Choral Society will be performing at the city's cathedral on Saturday, January 31.
The society will present The Dream of Gerontius by Elgar, his interpretation of the passion and poetry of Cardinal Newman.
The soloists are Sally Burchell, Jason Darnell and Adrian Powter, and the choir will be accompanied by its own orchestra and conducted by musical director Richard Brice.
