Auckland Area CIU League: West Auckland started the New Year with a bang.
They whitewashed the visiting Evenwood in the darts section to go 19 points clear at the top of the three teams in joint second place. In the battle between two of them Eldon Lane beat their hosts at Cockton Hill by the odd point, whilst Old Shidon won by the odd point at Horndale.
In the darts pairs league Tommy Ward and Kenny Richardson of Cockton Hill lost their first game of the season when Kevin Weldon and Steven Weldon of Eldon Lane beat them, with Steven finishing with a 156 check-out.
The dominoes section leaders, Old Shildon went down by two points at Horndale but still remain one clear of Evenwood, who drew with West Auckland. At whist Eldon Lane, by virtue of their whitewash at Cockton Hill, moved one point clear of Horndale, who drew with Old Shildon. In the 5s & 3s section the top two, Horndale and Old Shildon drew to leave the Newton Aycliffe side two points clear.
Cockton Hill only dropped one point against Eldon Lane to move joint top with Old Shildon, who were held to a draw by Horndale.

Pool: Cockton Hill 3 Eldon Lane 1; Horndale 2 Old Shildon 2; West Auckland 1 Evenwood 3.
The match between West Auckland and Horndale on January 29 will have to be postponed because West Auckland are playing in the semi-finals, and hopefully the final of the Jonathan Ward Darts Trophy at Consett Victoria.
Willington Ladies League
Willington Burn began the New Year programme with a bang when they entertained Willington Cottles A, the team who shared the top spot with them, and won by a maximum. This left the Burn five points clear of Cottles A at the top of the dominoes section with Willington Market in third place just a point adrift.
Willington Market also produced a shock but this time in the darts section. They entertained second placed, Willington Club A and won by three points. This result allowed third placed, Willington Black Horse A to move within eight points, whilst Willington Club B lead the table by six points with a match in hand.
