A PRIMARY school is likely to get new sports facilities.
Middleton Tyas Primary School wants to create a floodlit games area and changing rooms on part of the school's playing fields.
Nine letters of objection were sent to North Yorkshire County Council, voicing concerns over noise and light pollution, extra traffic and the impact on wildlife.
Councillors will make a decision on Tuesday and planning officer Erik Matthews has recommended that it be approved.
He said: "The floodlighting pylons would be largely sheltered by the new school building complex in views from residential properties to the west and south-west.
"There is no evidence that the proposal would lead to any increase in litter or other anti-social behaviour in the vicinity."
