A NORTH-EAST man who moved to France has been stabbed to death on the Paris Metro system.
The body of Emil Hegyesi, 47, has been flown back to his family on Tyneside.
He died from a single stab wound to the stomach during a fight. A man has been arrested and is in custody.
Mr Hegyesi, who was born in Guisborough, east Cleveland, has a daughter, Nicola Whattam, 29, in Killingworth, North Tyneside,
He grew up in a foster home in Whitley Bay with his late brother, Stephen.
His step-sister, Susan Petch, lives at Eaglescliffe, near Stockton.
A post-mortem examination was conducted at James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough yesterday and an inquest will be held at a later date. The family now hopes to make funeral arrangements.
