THE girlfriend of a teenager stabbed to death last year has given birth to his child.
Louise Rigby, 19, said her daughter will be a constant reminder of her boyfriend, Chris Cave, who was murdered in Redcar.
Louise gave birth to the 7lb 12oz baby at The James Cook University Hospital last week.
She said: "I just wish he could have been there. Chris would be over the moon if he was here today. He told everyone I was pregnant, even people he didn't know.
"He was really looking forward to becoming a dad."
Louise has named her daughter Corey Christa, in memory of her father.
She said: "Corey is like a constant reminder of Chris, and that is a good thing, but it is a shame that he could not see her. He would have smiled from ear to ear if he could. He would be on the ceiling, he would be that happy."
Since Chris died, Louise has been helped by parents Tony and Linda who will help to bring up their grand-daughter.
Louise said: "My family have been brilliant ever since he died, very supportive, and I would not have got through this without them.
"They are more like friends than parents."
Chris died after he was stabbed by Sean Matson in Burnmoor Close, on Redcar's Lakes Estate in the early hours of June 5 last year.
Matson was later jailed for life.
