Durham City Ladies: Durham City Ladies drew 2-2 with Marton in the Women's Northern League, however, City will be a little disappointed not to have won the match.
Durham top scorer Emma Collinson looked lively from the start of the match; hitting the under side of the crossbar but she made no mistake with a chance a little later putting City 1-0 up.
Soon after Vicky Moore made it 2-0 after some great work on the wing from Amanda Smith.
With half an hour to go Marton pulled the score back to 2-2 with well taken goals from Becky Angus.
With the wind dying off Durham came back and it was Smith and McKeown who both had chances in the last ten minutes; Smith's effort going agonisingly wide and McKeown bringing a great save out
of the visiting keeper.
Norton and Stockton Ancients
Norton Under-13 Gs got off to a good start putting pressure on the Stockton West End goal which seemed to be the theme of the first half, but Norton spurned four good chances and paid the price with a deflected goal a couple of minutes before half time. Stockton West End started well, and aided by some sloppy defensive work from Norton who soon found themselves two down. Norton continued with some good work and pulled a goal back though Emily Wilson, Norton continued to pressure Stockton West End and conceded two late goals while pushing for an equaliser. The 4-1 result did not reflect the game.
Girls Mini Soccer Leagues
The first ever Mini Soccer Leagues at Under 10, 12, 14 and 16s have come to a successful conclusion and we are now in the process of accepting applications for the next season which will commence mid-February.
The Leagues were held at two venues ie Under 10 and 12s at East Durham and Houghall College, Peterlee and Under 14 and 16s at Chester-le-Street Riverside, and these venues will be used again.
However, due to the initial interest shown we may well have to look at a further venue.

South Durham Royals
The Under-13 Royals were away to Newcastle for their first match after the Christmas break. The weather conditions were atrocious with strong winds and rain lashing. Royals started well with Holly Taylor crossing the ball to gain a deflection and scoring after two minutes. Rebecca Pattinson made it 2-0 seven minutes later with an accurate shot in the corner. Helen Morrison and Calli Hogarth came on after ten minutes and along with Rebecca Toppin provided Holly Taylor with the ball to score and make it 3-0. Toppin played some fine one-two moves with Taylor and finished it off to strike and make it 4-0. Royals kept changing the team around to make sure all got time on the pitch and still always commanded the game. Vicky Wray played a through ball from midfield for Toppin to pass to Taylor who made it 5-0. Alex Saunders and Jade White dealt confidently with any Newcastle attacks with keep Steph Hartley organising the defence. Rebecca Toppin and Taylor received the ball from Pattinson and tortured the defence for Toppin to get her second and make it 6-0. Helen Morrison picked up the ball in her own half and had a great run only to hit the framework. Holly Taylor scored two more past the opposition to take her tally to five and make the final score 8-0. Royals are lying second in the league behind Sunderland and look forward to next week's match at home to Blyth.
The Ladies were at home to Killingworth and were looking to add to some excellent results in both league and cup matches. In very poor weather conditions Royals were matched evenly by the away side, but always looked the more determined team with gritty performances from midfielders Amy Jerrison and Caz Ross inspiring the home team. Tracey Swales was given the ball from midfield after 65 minutes and shot from 18 yards to make it 1-0 to Royals. With five minutes to go Flatman and Heward linked up and provided Swales with the ball 25 yards out and she struck a powerful shot to make the final score 2-0 to Royals. Royals are away to Crook next week.
