Shuttle & Loom 2, Heighington 0: Shuttle took the initiative from the kick-off but were denied on several occasions as Heighington keeper Richard Shipham produced some excellent saves.
However Shuttle were not to be denied and a superb finish from Terry Greenstreet after 20 minutes put them ahead and Paul Hutchinson added a second with a bullet header following a corner. The second half saw both sides enjoy an equal amount of possession but Shuttle always looked the liveliest up front with man of the match Mark Jenkinson a constant threat.
League Challenge cup first round
DGSOB 0, Grey Horse 3
Meeting for the second successive week it was again Horse who struck first when Darrent Tate beat two men and hit home a scorcher from the edge of the box. Peter Gormley added a second for a two-goal interval lead. Old Boys keeper David Challies then produced an excellent second half display to restrict the scoring to Tate's second after 70 minutes.
East WMC 8, Barnard Castle 1
An excellent first half performance from East End saw them lead 4-0 at the interval courtesy of an early strike by Shaun Collins and a remarkable hat-trick from Mark Maddison who converted three penalties. Barney never gave up the fight and efforts by Robert Fell, Ian Spence and Robert Hudson were all well saved before East End increased their lead through John Gibson, Steven Baldesara, Paul Horsley and sub Aaron Radstock. East End were denied a clean sheet when Hudson finished off a sweeping move to give Barney some consolation for their afternoons efforts.
Killinghall Arms 6, Hole in the Wall 2
Killie went ahead against the run of play through Sean Rochford and his goal seemed to settle his team down, a view that was confirmed when the same player added a second. Wall responded with Mario Scott pulling a goal back and then being denied by the post. A disallowed "goal" then seemed to knock the stuffing out of Wall, as despite a bright opening to the second half it was Killie who extended their lead through Neil Matthias. Paul Vickers in his first start of the season then notched a three minute hat-trick to put the ties out of Wall's reach although David Wilson did pull one back to give Wall some consolation for their contribution to an excellent tie.
Durham Minor Cup round two
Newton Aycliffe 9, Travellers Rest 3
Seven goals in the first half saw Aycliffe with the advantage at 4-3. However the second was a totally different story, as Travellers seemed to give up the ghost as Aycliffe added a further 5 without reply. Scorers for Aycliffe were Stuart Owen, David Baldwin, Kevin Wilkinson (2 each), Aaron Duff, Tony Briddick and an own goal.
Tindale WMC 3, Greyhound 2
Unbeaten leaders Greyhound found themselves three in arrears before pulling two back in the second half through Peter Robson and an own goal.
