TEN students at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, in Darlington, have been offered places at Oxford and Cambridge.
Emily Holdstock, Abi Millar, Alistair Peach, Michael Raymond and Heather Rickaby have received conditional offers from Cambridge.
The Oxford applicants are Zo Lee, Dean Murphy, Mark Richardson, Gemma Roberts and Tessa Roberts.
Simon Nicholson, the teacher who co-ordinates Oxbridge applications at the college, said: "It is getting harder and harder each year to get offers from Oxford and Cambridge. The competition for places is really intense."
Alistair, 18, who hopes to study engineering, said: "I am absolutely thrilled. It is not something I expected to do when I first came to QE from Red House School, in Norton.
"I hadn't even thought of applying to Cambridge but was encouraged to do so by college and now I've been successful, I can't really believe it."
