SALONS across the region will be cutting and styling hair to raise money for charity next month.
Hairdressers who work at Toni and Guy salons in the North-East will open on Sunday, February 1, and will donate proceeds to charity.
The Toni and Guy Charitable Trust has pledged to raise £700,000 to refurbish a children's ward at the Variety Club Children's Hospital, King's College, London.
It will be known as the Toni and Guy ward, specialising in sickle cell anaemia, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, leukaemia and emergency admissions.
The ward will also take improving babies from King's neonatal intensive care unit.
Toni and Guy has salons in Darlington, Durham, Gateshead's MetroCentre, Harrogate, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Stockton, Sunderland and York.
Staff will donate their time free and are urging the public to support them by visiting their nearest salon for a haircut.
