A CAR involved in a hit-and-run accident which left a 14-year-old girl dead had been stolen from its North-East owner, it was revealed yesterday.
The teenager had just got off a bus near Faringdon, Oxfordshire, at 3.30pm on Friday when a car and van collided and she suffered fatal injuries.
One of the drivers gave police a statement about the involvement of a blue Honda Civic, which left the scene.
Yesterday, police later said the car has earlier been reported missing by its North Yorkshire owner, and was later recovered at Stanford-in-the-Vale, Oxon.
* A motorcyclist ran from an accident on Teesside in which a 13-year-old girl was left seriously injured.
The incident happened in Marton Road, Middlesbrough, at its junction with Regent Road, at about 6.30pm on Friday.
The motorbike struck the girl as she was crossing the road.
The rider ran away but left a red, white and blue crash helmet.
The girl was taken to James Cook University Hospital with a broken leg and cuts and bruises.
Police said that the motorbike, a black Honda 650, registration N940OJR, had been stolen from Whitby, in North Yorkshire.

* Police were last night unable to confirm the identity of a man in his twenties, who died in an accident on the York to Tadcaster road on Saturday.
The Peugeot 206 was travelling towards York on the A64 at 1.55am when it struck a tree. A passenger was taken to York District Hospital with head and pelvic injuries.

* A teenage driver was injured when a lorry ran into the back of his car.
The 17-year-old, from Esh Winning, County Durham, was taken to Durham City's University Hospital. Police said his condition was serious.
The accident happened at 1.15am on the A690 at Meadowfield, near Durham City, at its junction with St John's Road.
Police said the truck pushed the Ford Fiesta into a tree. The truck driver, from Sunderland, was unhurt.

* Two teenagers were injured when their car collided with a lorry in Lemington Road, Newcastle, on Saturday afternoon. The 18-year-old driver was found later at Newcastle General Hospital. His 17-year-old passenger suffered chest and leg injuries.
* A man is in hospital after a road accident on the A1185 Seal Sands Road, half-a-mile east of Marsh House Avenue, Billingham, Teesside, at 7.16am yesterday.
The driver of a Land Rover Discovery lost control of the vehicle in icy road conditions and collided with a Toyota Yaris.
The driver of the Yaris, a 53-year-old from the Trimdon area of County Durham, was detained in the University Hospital of North Tees with leg fractures, two broken knees, broken ribs and fractures to the neck and hip bone.

* Firefighters were called to road traffic accident on the A171 at Moorsholm, between Guisborough and Whitby, yesterday.
A van, which had overturned, was the only vehicle involved in the incident, which happened at 9.28am. There were no casualties.
