AN investigation into the killing of a talented North-East artist, who was shot in India, was contining last night.
David Green, 53, of Darlington, was shot in the back as he sketched wildlife in the northern town of Orchha on Thursday night.
The nature lover, who counted Dr David Bellamy among his friends, had been a popular figure in the town, having made regular visits over the past seven years.
His death stunned the quiet community, which is famous for its temples and forts.
Last night, Mr Green's family said they were waiting for updates from the Foreign Office.
His brother, Michael, said: "We are planning to have a green burial for David and we are waiting to find out when that can take place."
Indian police are said to have been hindered by the Hindu festival of Makar Sakranti, which attracted up to 100,000 people to Orchha.
