A TOWN has become the latest in east Cleveland to have its streets scanned by closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
Seven cameras have been installed in Eston, bringing the total monitoring the Redcar and Cleveland Council-administered area to more than 130.
Gary Flynn, the council's community safety manager, said: "A new seven-camera CCTV system for Eston is currently being installed in a phased programme."
One of the cameras being installed outside the Miners' Arms, Eston High Street, has a built in street light and it will replace the existing street light column at the same location.
The £16,000, system will cover Eston Square, Eston High Street, Whale Hill shops, Bankfields Road and St Helen's Close near Eston Cemetery
