A 23-YEAR-old man has become the latest motorist to die at a notorious accident blackspot.
Dale Andrew Skidmore, of Saltburn, east Cleveland, died in a two-car collision on the A171 outside the Cross Keys pub, near Guisborough, east Cleveland.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said Mr Skidmore's Vauxhall Tigra was in a head-on collision with a Vauxhall Vectra.
Firefighters cut Mr Skidmore free from his car, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Vectra, a 44-year-old man from Guisborough, was admitted to the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, with internal injuries. His condition yesterday was comfortable.
Mr Skidmore was travelling from the direction of Guisborough towards the Swan Corner roundabout at Nunthorpe when the incident took place.
The accident happened shortly after 5pm on Monday. Cleveland Police are appealing for witnesses to call PC John Butcher on (01642) 301552.
There have been a number of deaths at that location in the past few years.
Fire crews say they deal with up to seven high-speed collisions a year on that section of road.
