DETECTIVES investigating the brutal killing of a man in an apparently motiveless attack have set up a mobile police station in the street where he was found.
The body of Colin Johnson, 40, was found by his girlfriend in his living room in Pickering Road, in Pennywell, Sunderland, at 10.30pm on Saturday. He had suffered multiple injuries.
Detective Superintendent Tony Thornton, who is leading the investigation, said: "We still need to speak to anyone who was in Pickering Road on Saturday night, or who may have information about his murder.
"If people are not comfortable about going to a police station, or cannot get to one, we would encourage them to call at the mobile police station.
"We are keen to find out as much as we can about Mr Johnson's movements on Saturday. Everything points to him being at his home on Saturday."
Anyone with information is asked to call 0191-563 6408.
