A DURHAM college is supporting efforts to encourage employers to take on disabled workers.
Finchale College, which helps disabled adults to return to work, is helping JobCentre Plus organise a seminar at Sunderland Football Club's Stadium of Light on Wednesday, February 18, at 11.30am.
Firms will be able to learn about the incentives and assistance available to help them take on disabled employees.
The event has been organised by the city's JobCentre Plus with the college, the Royal Legion, Springboard, Scope and Remploy.
JobCentre Plus advisors and representatives of Broker North-East, the Shaw Trust and Employment Opportunities will talk about the help available, including support during the recruitment process.
Alan Nicholson, from EWL, in Washington, will give a presentation, offer advice and talk about EWL's Disability Symbol award for its equal opportunities policies.
Jackie Gibbins, JobCentre Plus disability services team manager, said: "The event is an invitation to local employers to come along and find out what is on offer. They may be interested in recruiting a person with disabilities but unsure of how to go about it.
"Apart from the chance to meet other employers and partners face-to-face, they can get some positive help on the day.''
