Willington League: League leaders, Willington Lion and Unicorn suffered a decisive shock home defeat when Willington Black Horse Inn won by three points.
The home side's only points came in the singles, where Arthur Goldsborough and Kevin Bake won. The visitors had singles wins from Tony Claughan, Sammy Jackson, and Kathy Hunt with Jackson with Hunt and Claughan with David Newton taking the two doubles.
Despite this defeat the Lion and Unicorn still lead the table by three points with Hunwick Joiners Arms in second place, seven points clear of Willington Club and Sunnybrow Brown Trout A.

Crook League
Crook Belle Vue were able to extend their lead at the top of the First Division to three points after they only dropped two points to the visiting Crook Surtees. The Club had singles wins from Jack Walker, Ivor Phillipson, John Warriner and Dave Hakin, whilst the Surtees replied through John Uren and Chris Bainbridge. The home side added the doubles when Dave Hakin and John Warriner beat Fred Hunt and Alan Tomlinson.
Crook Travellers Rest B were beaten at home by the odd point by Crook Olde Horse Shoe A but remain in second place, three points adrift of Crook Belle Vue. Crook Mill House, who repeated last week's best win of the season with six points against the visiting Crook Royal Sun, are in third place one point behind the Travellers.
In the Second Division the leading Crook Coach and Horses B only managed to take two points from their visit to Crook White Swan B, who had singles wins from Dave brown, Andrew Finch, Stephen Dawson and Kevin Carter with Carter and Finch adding the doubles. The visitors' only two points came from Gerald Parkin and Dave Haygarth.
Despite the defeat the Coach and Horses B still lead the table by three points from Willington Brewer's Droop, who are one ahead of Crook Queen's Head A.

Tow Law and
District League
Tow Law Football Club regained their top place in the table after they only dropped one point on their visit to Tow Law New Market A for a re-arranged match. Terry Taylor played a captain's part for the home side as he was the only player to win, whilst the footballers went to victory with wins from Arthur Henderson, Terry Ginty, Charlie Donaghy and Billy Lyle.
CIU 5s & 3s Pairs Championship
Semi-final results: S. Wray & T. Wray (Ferryhill) beat S. Farquhar & S. Dixon (Town End Farm) 3-2 whilst G. Peaden & P. Whitfield (Crowtrees) lost to C. Stainsby & S. Smith (Darlington) 2-3.

Willington and District League
Willington Cottles B left themselves in with an outside chance of landing the Championship after they only dropped one point at Willington Lion and Unicorn to move within two points of the leaders, Sunnybrow Brown Trout with just one match remaining.
The Unicorn landlord, Kevin Hill was the only home winner, whilst Dave Bennett, Wilf Sharp, Paul Trow and Gilly Spark took Cottles B to victory.
Byers Green Royal Oak have an outsiders chance of taking the Championship in their first season following their odd point home win over the Prospect Club. However to land the title they would have to win their last game by a maximum and hope that the Trout and Cottles are both heavily beaten.
Simon Nutter and Paul Brownson put the Royal Oak ahead but Kath Nyland and Barry Greensmith levelled. In the decider the Oak's Wayne Kerr beat Keith Hirst.
Phil Blyth of Willington New Inn beat Stephen Kyle of Willington Burn Inn to leave himself only needing a win in his final match to land the Captain's Title. Even if he was to lose his last match his nearest opponents would have to win theirs to force a play-off.

The main league table is headed by Billy Row Club who are two points ahead of the reigning champions, Esh Stag's Head. In third place, Tow Law New Market B trail the Stag's by six points, but Tow Law New Market A are just two points further adrift but have a match in hand.
