On Sunday Durham's under-12 team took part in an inter counties match at Herringthorpe Leisure Centre, Rotherham.
The team had excellent wins over Warwickshire, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire seconds but lost out to Lancashire for a place in the finals. However in the play off for third place the youngsters defeated Nottinghamshire six games to four to end an excellent day's play.
The tournament was won by Yorkshire 1st team with Lancashire second. Although the whole team played excellently Holly Smith of Sunderland only lost 1 of her matches in the singles and doubles.
Team - Boys: Joseph Cosgrove,(Sunderland), Matthew Andrews (Gateshead), Neil Adamson (Sunderland), James Parnell (Chester-le-Street).
Girls: Abigail Scarlet, Holly Smith, Rebecca Boldon (Sunderland) and Laura McKie,(Chopwell).
