PUPILS at a Darlington school were rewarded for their hard work at a prize- giving ceremony this week.
Scores of youngsters at Hummersknott School and Language College received trophies for their academic and sporting successes.
The prizes were presented by Peter Barron, editor of The Northern Echo, and there was entertainment from pupils Grace Simpson, Helen Moore, Catherine Llewellyn, Suzanne Blewitt and Lucy Madden.

Individual successes: David Carter, fastest in England in his group at 200m breaststroke. At the English Schools Championships, he finished third in the year ten/11 age group for 100m breaststroke; Sarah Dove, came ninth in English Schools final; Kirsty Stephenson, best result of 2003, ninth in butterfly for her age group; Emma Willson, gained two national times in breaststroke for 100m and 200m; Emily Pattinson, first in Northumberland and Durham for diving in her age group.
Netball Holiways Netball Club Prize: Fiona Davison, senior; Rachel Longstaff, junior.
Athletics: Neil Robinson and Julia Orr, Quakers Running Club Award. Both the intermediate boys and girls teams qualified for the Northern regional final in the English Schools Cross Country Cup. The teams finished seventh and eighth respectively.
